“Can you wake Havoc? I want to see if this fits,” Alyssa asked Alex. The other female grinned and coaxed Havoc off the couch. Both Sam and Alex knew what she was making.

He stood on the floor staring at Alex and didn’t look happy to be ousted from the couch. Alyssa came up to him and gave him a little scratch before fitting the harness over his neck and through his front legs. She set the adjustable snaps and stood up feeling pleased. She’d had to make it bright, there was no getting around that, but she thought the neon green with some black pointy rivets in the thick material gave him a tough look. He stood there looking at her. “He doesn’t seem to be bothered by it.”

“Oh, Havoc, you look so handsome,” Alex chimed at him, grinning. He tilted his head and wiggled at her so that she would pet him.

“It’s really a great idea,” Sam said, nodding.

She felt his presence before she saw him. She turned around to see the others filing in through the balcony. Vane and Erik walked in with them, and Sirena came through another door. Gregoire went straight to her and lifted her into his arms, kissing her hard.

“I have to check on Rain soon. I don’t want her waking up alone,” she said with regret.

“We’re having a meeting now anyway,” he said through a clenched jaw. He settled on one of the big chairs with her in his lap.

“Fuck, Havoc. Did you even put up a fight when they put this shit on you?” Uri sounded completely disgusted, and she heard giggles and a couple male barks of laughter.

  “Where’s Dorian?” Conn asked

“He wanted to check one more mountain range. He asked that I give him the information later,” Bastian said with a perplexed look on his exotic face.

The Guardians all took seats on couches or at the game table. She was tucked into Gregoire’s chest and didn’t care what the others were doing. She did catch an interesting interaction between Brianne and Vane, but it was there and gone in a second. Sirena came from the hall, and Drake stood to the side.

Alex began going over the horrifying experience of what Delia had been through and what she had done. She absently rubbed Havoc’s ears as she relayed what happened during their last ‘hop’ to Delia. “We could tell something was bad the second we went in the last time. Delia seemed different; calm determination was woven with the hatred and dementia invading her mind. She had gotten the cuffs off and had already called Cyril to her. Uri and I had been giving her tips on how to use the powers from the start, hoping she would be able to use them to defend herself at some point.”

Uri finished as, he, too tucked his mate into his lap. “She tricked him into thinking she was having a horrible reaction to the mating. He came within seconds of feeling the distress she filtered into their bond. She acted as though she was still cuffed while her body seized. When he got close enough, she telekinetically cuffed him and used their combined powers to set flame to his heart. The element of surprise was her biggest advantage. His eyes were wide and shocked as she used his own power against him.”

Alex nodded her head, and Alyssa saw the respect in her eyes. “It was brilliantly done. We stayed with her while she walked out of the cell and found another room that had a bed and some blades. She took one long sword into the cell and promptly severed the bastard’s head. I was so excited, until I saw in her mind what her intentions were.

“Cyril had been telling her from the start that he would keep her locked away so that no one would ever attempt to take her from him. Apparently the serum caused her to produce pheromones with the potential to attract any and all Immortals. The production didn’t stop when she mated the wolf and then apparently was still there after mating with Cyril. At least that’s what he told her. In her mind, she was convinced she would never be safe from those compelled to claim her. Her life would be a living nightmare. It already was. She mourned Phalen, hated herself. When we tried to assure her that we would find a way to help her, she told us, ‘Even if you could, you would never be able to truly erase the memories.’ She said that she just wanted peace, even after Uri tried to convince her he could take her memories.”

Alex added the rest. “She brought in the bedding and lit it on fire. She kicked us out of her mind as she took the blade to her own heart. She planned to burn to ash. She took her vengeance… She should be honored.”

“I think we should do something in her memory,” Sam said adamantly. “It should be big for getting rid of that son of a bitch. If only she could have killed his rabid bitch, Elizabeth. Any news on her?” Sam asked. “And what about the others, Cyril’s Aletheia bastards?” Sam looked fierce as she cursed, and Erik tucked her into his side.

“I checked all the bodies. They weren’t there,” Erik said, fury in his icy eyes.

Drake answered, “It looks like she got away, along with most of their people. I don’t know what that means. Whether Elizabeth will take charge of his people or another? She’s able to contact the other Realms and work with Cynthia or the Tria, so the threat is still there. The only good news is that we hope the mating formula died with Cyril. He hadn’t wanted his people to know about it according to Delia.”

Conn interjected, “The labs were checked, but we collected what we could for Sirena to go through, just in case.”

Drake said one more thing before sending them off. “No one is to know about that formula, or what Alex and Uri are able to do. I will come up with something to tell the coven and her family so that they know she died with honor.”

The others filed out, and Sam said she’d like to get together the next day to find something to do for Delia.

“I can’t leave Rain to wake up alone,” Alyssa said, feeling terrible but knowing her friend would wake up soon.

Gregoire walked up to Sirena. “Is Rain fine to go home with us?”

  The healer smiled and nodded.

Within ten minutes Rain was snuggled onto their couch, and he had her naked in his bed. They would hear Rain when she stirred.

His mouth met hers, and he loved her with slow deliberation, his mouth on her neck and then caressing her marked breasts. He licked and savored her flesh like he’d never get enough of her. Then he moved down and lapped at her slick pussy. He forced her into a harsh climax, before burying himself deep, moving inside her as he held her hands on the pillow next to her head. He stared into her eyes and let her inside his mind. She opened for him too and lost herself in the sensation as he thrust inside her. She throbbed and clutched his hands as she crashed over the edge to searing ecstasy.

“You scared me to death. I’ve never in my life felt such fear, and I don’t ever want to feel it again,” he said, glaring at her.

“I understand,” she said as she kissed him, hating that he was hurting.

  Chapter 43

  Lofodes, Tetartos Realm

It was a beautiful sunny day. The trees were a lush green, and birds sang around them in the crisp air. Alyssa and the other females had all worked together to come up with a fitting memorial for Delia. Cyril had been all of the races’ most vicious threat, and they all wanted to honor her for what she’d done.

So much had happened in that last couple of days. The Guardians had worked through the compound and found no clues as to where Cyril had taken Delia. It was horrible not to be able to provide her family with her remains. They told her parents that Uri saw Delia stab Cyril in the chest as a cave collapsed above and crushed them. That was the official story given to those of the Realm.

Delia was at peace now. No longer in the clutches of a monster. Secrets would be kept. Her family need never know the details and horrors of her captivity. The other females had not been mated, and it seemed that those captured were unaware that Cyril had perfected his formula.

The chatter of visitors lightly filled the square in the center of Lofodes. It was a peaceful space. People were moving around Delia’s family. Offering gifts and paying respects. The Guardians had built a small stone temple where a gorgeous bronze sculpture Sam created stood tall and proud. The
metal was shaped in an almost exact likeness of Delia, with a small plaque situated at its feet. The words, “With honor and courage Delia selflessly gave her life. Her sacrifice for the Realms will not be forgotten,” were etched into the surface.

Gregoire stood at Alyssa’s side as they watched the people amble around. Rain was to her left.

“It’s so beautiful. Horrible, but at least her family has some closure.” Rain’s words were somber.

Alyssa’s parents walked over. Her father’s jaw was clenched tight as he nodded at Gregoire. Her mother smiled. “We’d like you to come to the house after,” her father said, a clear edge to his tone, but she knew he planned to apologize; her mother’s happy face said it all.

Rain was sitting in her room, frustrated as she wrote down lists of all potential vocations in the Guardian Compound since she was a permanent guest. It didn’t matter that Cyril was dead. His people were still out there.

She blew out an irritated breath. Alyssa said she could work with her and, at least it would get her out of there. Everywhere she went she looked for the tall blond God of her dreams. He haunted her.

She’d had such intense dreams the night before that she’d woken feverishly sliding her fingers over her aching clit, rubbing and circling until she’d gotten herself off while imagining big aqua eyes and blue-tipped blond hair. He appeared so incredibly intense. Why did he keep invading her dreams? She hadn’t even seen him since Alyssa’s mating five days before.

A knock sounded at her door, and she uncurled herself from the chair. “Hey,” she greeted Sirena and invited her inside and shut the door.

The healer looked pensive. “How have you been feeling?”

Dread pitted her stomach, and her mouth dried up. Sirena had taken blood samples after her abduction. “What’s wrong?”

“Your blood showed the signs of the mating frenzy.”

  About The Author:

The sad truth is that I’m not nearly as entertaining as fiction. I am a thirty-seven year old stay at home writer, thanks to my incredibly supportive husband. We’ve been together for thirteen years and I still love waking up next to that sexy man. We lost our furry child recently, so we are childless at the moment. Our whole world revolved around her. Needless to say, I love animals, especially dogs. Okay, maybe not all animals, I’m not a super big fan of monkeys. Any animal that throws their feces kind of eeks me out. I may, or may not, have a problem with candy. I love any research that leads to Neiman Marcus’ online shoe department. Spreadsheets give me way more happiness than they should. I love to read, the dirtier the better. It all started with the naughty historical romances by Judith McNaught that I devoured as a teenager. I love reading about hot, sexy alpha males and heroines that are smart enough to live.
